Plex Systems Co-Sponsors AdamBots FIRST Robotics Team

March 20, 2012

Plex Systems, provider of Plex Online, Cloud ERP for manufacturers, announces its co-sponsorship of the Rochester Adams/Stoney Creek High School Robotics Team's participation in the 2012 season of the FIRST Robotics Competition.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., March 20, 2012 -- Plex Systems Inc., provider of Plex Online, Cloud ERP for manufacturers, today announced that it is co-sponsoring the Rochester Adams/Stoney Creek High School Robotics Team's participation in the 2012 season of the FIRST Robotics Competition. Named the AdamBots, the Adams/Stoney Creek Robotics Team competes against other high schools in the Michigan district of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), which was founded by accomplished inventor Dean Kamen to inspire an appreciation of science and technology in young people. The FIRST Robotics Competition combines the excitement of a varsity sport with hands-on training in science and technology to help high school students discover how rewarding a career in engineering or technology can be. As part of its sponsorship, Plex Systems is providing funds to help design, build and program a robot for the 2012 FIRST Game, Rebound Rumble. The robot must be built within a six-week timeframe using a standard kit of parts and a common set of rules. In Michigan, the AdamBots will compete against other high school teams in two qualifying tournaments, called district events, with the top 64 teams moving on to the State Championship. From there, the top 18 teams are then qualified for the FIRST Robotics Competition World Championships. The program will involve students in Computer Aided Design (CAD) and animation, programming, electronics, mechanical build, manufacturing, marketing, business planning and other areas. "FIRST offers invaluable opportunities to prepare young people for the future, where science and technology skills will be more important than ever before," said Plex Systems CEO Mark Symonds. "We're thrilled to support the AdamBots as they learn these important skills to compete not only in FIRST, but in the future workforce as well." "Inspiring our students to explore careers in engineering, science and technology is at the core of this fun and rewarding competition," said Warren Hildebrandt, Rochester Adams High School CAD teacher and the AdamBots' faculty mentor. "We're grateful for Plex Systems' continued support of the AdamBots as they flex their newfound knowledge to compete graciously and win together.
